I came across a CNBC article that wrote about how Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, stays focused. I read this article and ever since I can’t get rid of asking myself these three questions.
What do you have?
What do you want?
What are you willing to give up?~ Jack Ma
If you are reading my blog, then chances are that you are a very driven individual and you want to be better. Many of us are constantly trying to be the best versions of ourselves and set many goals. Sometimes too many! I’m guilty of this. I want to be a better husband, I want to be a better father, I want to be better at golf, I want to be better at CrossFit, I want to be better at sales, I want to be better at surfing and on and on and on.
Many of us have no problem asking the first two questions. But how many of us ask the third question. I know I don’t often enough.
Reading that article really stopped me in my tracks and made me evaluate what is really important. If I want to accomplish my goals, there are things that I’m going to have to give up. Or at least, put less emphasis on.
If you are serious about your goals, then there needs to be a laser focus on accomplishing those goals. Get rid of things that get in the way of that.
Ask yourself these three questions and be honest with yourself. What is it that you truly want. And what do you have to give up to make sure you stay on track towards that goal.
